A full marathon in my home city

27 Jul

I was so excited to learn that there will be a full marathon in my home city of Southampton next year. I’ve already entered the half marathon, so am now thinking about upgrading my entry to the full marathon.

Southampton marathon

I’ve loved running ABP Southampton Half for the last two years and think the marathon would be a great comeback race (although training with a small baby might be a bit of a challenge!) I’ve already added this race to My scheduled events for 2017

I was also interested to learn that TryTri may be running a triathlon in Bournemouth next year. Stuart’s family are from this area and it isn’t far away, so I’d like to take part. It features a sea swim, which is something that I enjoy.

Are there any races in your home town? What do you think of them?

That was my excuse for running the Jetty 2 Jetty half marathon the other weekend. It came past my house (literally, not almost past my house).

I do love running in familiar areas and knowing that there will be lots of friends and colleagues out supporting and running makes it more appealing.

I’m so tempted. I managed to run 4x10k at the weekend despite being 7 months+ pregnant, but don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to run for and worry that I’ll end up having to start from scratch!

Trytri in Bournemouth is a must!

I loved pacing the half marathon earlier this year (and if I hadn’t been pregnant I was hoping to go for a PB), but the marathon is so tempting… and it does seem to fit in with my Ironman plan 🙂

There’s a lot of races in my home town. For a marathon I prefer to go out of town (for me that’s more fun) but I am planning on doing a 10 K in August and a half marathon in September in my home town.
