Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

23 Oct

Thank you to Sandra (A Promise to Dad) for nominating me for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award! I’ve never had much of a trophy cabinet, so it was a real thrill to find out 🙂

I’ve been following Sandra’s blog for a few months now – I find it completely fascinating that someone who’s a different age from me and living on a different continent can encounter such similar challenges (and triumphs) as me. Please go and check out A Promise to Dad – it’s an inspirational read.

The rules for the Sisterhood award are simple:
1. Post the logo on your blog.
2. Thank the person who nominated you.
3. Choose 10-12 other ladies who blog as your nominees.
4. Post the links to the nominees’ blogs and notify them on their blog.

Here are my ten chosen blogs:

This was the first blog that I ever subscribed to. Its subtitle is: “A neurotic glamour girl’s weight watchers experience and fitness adventures”. It chronicles Sheryl’s life in New York, with lots of cycling in iconic locations on her Hello Kitty cruiser and plenty of info about her healthy vegan diet… unfortunately, it often makes me hungry, as so many of the yummy food items that ‘Bitchcakes’ mentions are unavailable in the UK!

2. The Half Ass Bad Ass

“She turned her can’ts into cans and her dreams into plans”. This is Kathleen’s blog about her journey from being an overweight twenty-something to a fit and healthy runner. Kathleen includes some lovely photos on her blog that make me want to move to New England!

3. Toughmudderof4

“Forget Couch25k, this is me going from couch to 20k military obstacle course in 8 months. It’s going to hurt, it’s going to be hilarious and I’m going to blog the word “fuck” a lot… get on board people this is happening”. This is one of the few blogs I read that doesn’t discuss weightloss as Didi is a skinny lady who’s trying to get fit… it’s also refreshing to read a blog from Down Under!

4. Run Like My Mother

“My Mother inspired me to run… now I am a mother inspiring others to run!” This is Heidi’s blog about being a mother of three, runner and triathlete. It strikes a chord with me as Heidi lost her 44-year-old mother to cancer. She’s also a fantastic athlete, recording a 3:46 marathon recently!

5. Damn girl, that’s a lot of fattitude

“Weight Watchers, Weight loss and Triathlons – oh my!” Danielle’s blog always makes me smile. She’s already travelled so far on her journey and her photos always suggest that she’s having a great time. She’s never afraid to speak her mind… plus she includes pro pointed recipes that always look and sound delicious 🙂 Also, she’s an inspiration to anyone who wants to lose weight, having already lost 9 stone!

6. 365 less things

“Reducing our stuff one day at a time”. This is one of the few blogs that I follow that isn’t related to weightloss, fitness, running or triathlons. I aspire to live a clutter-free life; Colleen and Cindy are inspiring me to get there one item at a time.

7. sneaker therapy

“I talk to God on the road. And He talks back.” Last year Dawn went from being a non-runner to a marathoner. She has continued running since then and now blogs about her running and other fitness activities as well as including photos of lovely food that she’s eaten.

8. Carried away about nutrition

“Preventing and reversing chronic disease”. Carrie is a dietitian and a runner… and she’s recently got engaged to Wes, who occasionally writes guest posts.

9. Chronicles of a SAHM

Ericka shares her adventures as a triathlete in “A day in the Life of a Stay at Home Mom….of 4…”

10. sweet sweat life

Erin describes her life as “swimbikerunyogalifelove”. She is such an inspirational person – I followed her journey to Ironman Canada and would love to be as awesome as her in any single discipline!

I hope you enjoy checking out those blogs and maybe follow some of them 😀
